Previous Drivel | Further Drivel

From the 'Freakily Plausible Dept.'

Since I'm lacking in inspiration - again - for interestin' stuff to write, I thought I'd have a stab at this, as seen in the journal of murderofonerose.

1 - Go to Wikipedia's "random article" link. The first random article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Go to Random quotations. The last four words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to flickr's "explore the last seven days". Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Random Records is proud to introduce their latest signing...

Presenting the debut album, SHOTS YOU NEVER TAKE.

I think the genre is going to have to be 'introspective indie-pop', mid-1990s style, yes?  With 'frangible acoustic guitar' and toy piano, and an undernourished-looking girl singer...

I'm wondering whether people actually do this, to come up with their actual band names.  It could work quite well in theory...

Have a go yourself and see if you can become inspired to take the music industry by storm! :-))

(Meanwhile, I shall go back to not taking anything by storm, having fried my remaining brain cells doing agonisingly menial tasks all afternoon...)

Y'know, cynical art rock bands like yours are so passe'. Morrisey is dead.

Indeed? He's looking remarkably well on it, if you ask me...

I could never make 'cynical art rock' myself... It'd be 'gauche, goofy art rock', probably! ;-)

I love how seemingly poignant statements can be made by throwing three things together in a completely random way.

Except for mine. Mine was more of a "This seahorse would cut you, if only it had a knife and, for that matter, arms, and then agonize in a corner about it afterward, overcome with angst" sort of statement. XD

Ah yes - let's call it 'serendipitous juxtaposition'... or not... er...

I never realised seahorses had such a complex inner life! >_<

The Unicorns already happened...you can't recreate that.

Hah, well, nostalgia comes around quickly nowadays...

An undernourished girl singer who stares earnestly into the camera whilst strumming her frangible acoustic guitar, when she's making the video for her single, at that. For some reason, that was very popular among the other girls in my dorm at university.

I was really glad when I got a pikey student flat and could blare my kind of music instead. :D
Jun. 11th, 2008 08:21 am (UTC)
Hehe, I'm guessing your kind of music is probably rather more... how can I put this... LOUD AND BLUNT?!
Jun. 15th, 2008 11:30 pm (UTC)
WHY YES! Also it sometimes makes frequent use of profanity. However did you guess? ;D

I've done this meme ages ago, and some time back it gave me an idea for a graphic project on my Arts course. I followed my instincts and created CD album covers, using the meme for the names.

I aced that course. :) Funny how life works, huh?

Eavesdrop, snoop, and sigh with yearning...

This journal is not a private diary, it is more like an occasional, imaginary column. Therefore, much of it is on public display. However, if you want to read my occasional attempts at creative writing, my Caution Elf tells me I should only show that stuff to my friends. You know what to do. :-)

NB: If you add me in an unsolicited fashion, please introduce yourself. Otherwise I will probably ignore you.
