Hose-anna!

Man, do I ever hate gardening. :-(  The only good parts are nice flowers and interesting creepy-crawlies. :-)

I have just emerged non-victorious from a womanful struggle with a recalcitrant garden hose - one of those clever ones with a plastic storage reel/case.  Something is not at all right with it - I think it must have tied itself in a knot inside the clever apparatus.  Well, I used the watering can instead.  I am here on my own today, and I don't think even I could get away with going next door to ask my elderly neighbour for assistance.  (And I can get away with most things, normally.)  I actually can't think of a way of saying "Please help me with my hose" that doesn't sound kinda rude. ;-)  But I shan't defile your screen with any choice examples right now.

My mind really has been elsewhere of late.  This sometimes occurs when I have time off and can do whatever I want.  I'm only ever really interesting when I'm supposed to be doing something else.  (If I was imprisoned by the state, you can bet I'd be writing The Greatest Novel Ever on bits of loo paper, but give me a fancy loft apartment for writing in and a heap of sponsorship to fund the writerly lifestyle and I'd sit there and paint my toenails, probably.)  So, instead of writing choice nuggets of pointed prose for your eyes, mostly what I want to do at the moment is listen to music and talk about it too*.  Posts about music can seem very didactic, which I don't like to be at all, hence the lack of activity hereabouts...  But I will share my excitement with you about one thing in particular.  Once again, a stroke of excellent timing by the universe.  Well done, universe!  I salute you! ;-)

To whit:

Four bands that have been entertaining me muchly of late**; and at least two others that I'm interested in hearing.  I can't really not go, can I? :-)

[*I am the world's worst conversationalist, except when the topic is music, in which case I might never shut up.  Feel free to test me on that some day... ^_^]

[**Note the clever use of understatement. ;-)]

But that is the writerly lifestyle! *eyes toenails in a painterly fashion*

Ah, 'Cherries in the Snow' by Revlon... it suits you. ;-))

(Inspiration from the ground up - maybe that would work after all!)

This is most likely the truest thing ever said about writing. May I quote you somewhere if it strikes my fancy? :D

I have a nice house and lots of free time. I don't sit here and paint my toenails. Instead, I read Livejournal. The productivity is similar, however.

Ah, yes. Endless online distractions! (I'm strangely relieved to note that you do not paint your toenails. ;-))

Eavesdrop, snoop, and sigh with yearning...

This journal is not a private diary, it is more like an occasional, imaginary column. Therefore, much of it is on public display. However, if you want to read my occasional attempts at creative writing, my Caution Elf tells me I should only show that stuff to my friends. You know what to do. :-)

NB: If you add me in an unsolicited fashion, please introduce yourself. Otherwise I will probably ignore you.
