Pictures from the past

Today I have been looking through a few boxes of Stuff (note the capitalisation.  A perusal of my Stuff is akin to wandering the stores of a medium-sized local museum. ^_^).  Stuff that has ended up in boxes during my various relocations over the past few years.  (And thereby hangs a tale, one that is far too convoluted, personal and commonplace for this particular venue!)

Anyway, I came across some photos that I took years ago, in the garden of the house where I grew up.  This garden was one of those indescribably magical places where mere words just fail and die.  But the pictures... hmm... who knows, they might give you a little hint of it.

This first one is looking through willow branches to an old apple tree (believed to be 'Beauty of Bath'.  The apples were red and gold stripy affairs - lovely to behold but not very nice to eat.  Usually consumed by wasps...), with clematis 'Nelly Moser' growing up it.

The second one shows a more general view of the willow tree, submerged in wildness.

Looking at those pictures, I can just about still feel that sparkle that the old place used to have - a quality of light that I've never seen anywhere else... and I feel warm, even though it's February. ^_^

that is beautiful. makes me very happy that i live so close to so many beautiful woods. theres a place near here called saint pete's that's next to an old abandoned quarry. it is the most beautiful place in the world as far as i'm concerned, and my friends and i spend a good deal of spring and fall around there. imagine shallow fast running water spilling over a mile of the smoothest moss covered boulders, some as big as a truck, all sealed away behind an impenetrable canopy! it's so pretty there!

damn, now i really want it to be spring. can't go in winter cause the boulders are dangerous when it's cold x_x... oh well. patience *sigh*

Sounds beautiful! There's something about woodland - very calming but also reviving too. Definitely my favourite kind of landscape. :-)

Willows always were one of my favorite trees.

Mine too. I'd love a bedroom decorated in that William Morris wallpaper with willow leaves all over it. (If I had an Arts & Crafts house...)

Eavesdrop, snoop, and sigh with yearning...

This journal is not a private diary, it is more like an occasional, imaginary column. Therefore, much of it is on public display. However, if you want to read my occasional attempts at creative writing, my Caution Elf tells me I should only show that stuff to my friends. You know what to do. :-)

NB: If you add me in an unsolicited fashion, please introduce yourself. Otherwise I will probably ignore you.
