about me Good morrow to you. I am M. and I’m in charge of this here journal. I am eccentric but harmless, and quite nice really. ^__^ STUFF THAT IS IMPORTANT TO ME: let’s start with something vital and inescapable – MUSIC. My personal policy is never to give houseroom to something that isn’t in some way AWESOME. My definition of ‘awesome’ where music is concerned encompasses, but is not limited to: odd-numbered time signatures; excellent moustaches; mad percussion; unnervingly sexy bass guitarists; OTT costumery; being Belgian; pressing a mere 500 copies of your LP in about 1981; singing about communism in Italian; having a cool pseudonym; making mere mortals cry; pushing dissonance to the utter barefaced limit whilst also being… hip-shakingly groovy; being Fast and/or Bulbous; coming from another planet, Baby; and conjugatin’ The Verb: To Love. (If you are a statistician, or just incredibly bored, you should check out my last.fm and BASK IN THE UNRELENTING AWESOMENESS of my taste. ;-P) I also write songs (yes, I know, everyone seems to these days…), when smacked with the lukewarm kipper of inspiration. Singing and playing the piano are as important to me as hats and jam: pretty important, in other words. ^_^ It’s not only MUSIC that haunts me, mark you: but also, WORDS. That is, an ongoing love affair with the English Language; and a bit of flirtation on the side with made-up words. ‘Describing stuff’ is my absolute passion in life – whether in a story, a music review, a song of my own, a word I just invented, or a wilfully opinionated journal entry. If you are one of my LJ friends, depending on which filtered groups I give you access to, you may well encounter any and all of these things on my journal, sometimes all together in one entry. ;-) Ridiculous things appeal to me and I don’t like to take life too seriously. Most of my private life stays private (i.e. not referred to in any way!) except when something momentous happens to me. If I have a ‘friending policy’ it goes something like this: if I like the look of you for some unearthly reason, I’ll ask you nicely for your permission before I add you. (Or at least... I'll tell you I've added you, and give an excuse!) If you want to add me, I’d be very grateful if you’d let me know (and perhaps tell me why, because it is handy to know these things…). People who do the whole ‘unsolicited addification followed by deathly SILENCE’ thing will be ignored. And that’s all. The fine detail is in the interests list… Still Curious? Look here and here.
